An early stage work-in-progress workshop for a new time-based work, where Saunders shared research and experimentation on themes of rest in a casual, experimental, participatory salon-style gathering. Dr. Lila Davachi, Professor of Psychology at Columbia University, will also share her research on the wonders of what the brain does with memory at rest. Following the experience, there will be a community gathering and reception. Special thanks to Emma O’Halloran for her ongoing collaboration on the sound elements of this experiment.
‘Rest’ is based on research about how perception is created by small slivers of sensory input that is then ‘filled in’ with what were member or what we expect, including interviews with scientists, poets, futurists, authors and thinkers and including George Saunders, Ross Gay, David Abram, Maryanne Wolf, Mary Helen Immordino Yang.
