Artist

Mimi Yin is a multidisciplinary artist and programmer. Her work exploits the literal-mindedness of computational thinking to play with the human desire to comprehend and connect. With NUUM Collective, she creates choreographic works using interaction to intensify experiences of encounter. Her research has been supported by the NEA, Google, Center for Ballet and The Arts, MaxMachina and The NYU Catalyst Prize. Her interactive and performance works have been experienced at Culture Hub, MANA Contemporary, Yale University Art Gallery, The Highline, Governor’s Island, New York Live Arts, and Joyce Theater among others. With musicologist Brigid Cohen, theater artist Rosemary Quinn, and literary scholar Wendy A. Lee, Mimi runs Consent Lab, a collaboration devoted to developing new techniques that marry the scholarly practice of close reading and embodied encounter. Mimi is an Associate Arts Professor at NYU Tisch.
