Alex Barnes

Production Manager

Alex Barnes is an artistic director and producer with over two decades of experience producing a wide variety of performances, including new theatrical productions, concerts, and tours.

Most recently, as the Director of Artistic Planning at National Sawdust, Alex curated and planned artistic seasons, residencies, special events and partnerships. During his tenure, he produced complex shows across genres including opera, classical, dance and hip hop. His career is defined by his ability to build strong connections between visionary artistic planning and the practical realities of creative production.

Prior to National Sawdust, Alex spent nine years at CAMI Music as a Producer and Associate Manager. In this role, he provided strategic support for international touring concert artists and developed new theatrical projects from their initial concept by assembling the necessary creative and production teams. He led these touring productions, planned artist season calendars, and acted as the key liaison between artists and venue teams to ensure all contractual terms—from financial to technical and hospitality—were successfully met.

His early career included a role as an Associate Producer for Festival Productions Inc., where he managed on-site production crews at major music halls and international festival locations, including Carnegie Hall, the Newport Jazz Festival, and the Vodafone Jazz Festival in Japan.

Alex currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and 3 year old son.
