Dancing with Black Holes is a work-in-progress dance theater piece centered on the complex cosmic dances of black holes. Rendering complex astrophysical data into a visceral human experience, the audience takes an immersive journey at the threshold of a black hole. Inspired by the collision of gravitational waves emitted billions of years ago, the work explores the ultimate point of no return—the event horizon—a spectacular frontier where the laws of physics break down and kinesis takes over. The known world ends and a different kind of truth begins.

The performance is driven by the choreography of Peter Chu and the musical composition of Matthew Jamal. Conceived by Kay Matschullat and guided by the research of scientific collaborator Max Isi, the artists will contemplate what happens to energy and matter when they are transformed by forces beyond human cognition. The experience feels like the horizon itself: precise in its mathematics, yet wild in its refusal to be contained, tracing a journey toward the center of a mystery older than time..
